Vice President of Operations

After a distinguished 34-year career in law enforcement in Alaska, Ron Otte joined the NMS team in 2000, as the Director of Operations for NMS Security. Ron started his police career with the Anchorage Police Department in 1965, with early assignments including patrol, traffic, community relations, training, investigations, and personnel selection. After working through the ranks, he was appointed Chief of Police in 1986 and served in that position for two years.

In 1989, Ron was hired as the Chief of Police for the City of Palmer. He held that position until 1994, when he was appointed Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Public Safety. As Commissioner, Ron managed a statewide law enforcement agency of 1,000 employees and a budget of $100 million.

Ron attended the University of Idaho for three years and completed his education at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is a graduate of the 115th session of the FBI National Academy and the FBI’s National Executive Institute. He is a life member of the Alaska Peace Officers Association, the Alaska Chiefs Association, and the Fraternal Order of Alaska State Troopers, and a current member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Security Manager

John Glass joined the NMS team in July of 2009 as the Security Manager for Remote Site Operations. Prior to his move to NMS, John was the Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Public Safety for the State of Alaska. As Deputy Commissioner, John worked with the Commissioner of Public Safety in the management of the department with six different divisions.

John served for 27 years with the Alaska State Troopers, working his way up the ranks to Colonel (Director). John also served as the Chief of Police for the City of Wasilla.  John attended the Department of Public Safety Academy in Sitka, and the FBI National Academy and Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar in Quantico.

All told, John has nearly 40 years of experience in law enforcement. His extensive experience with the Alaska State Troopers and with NMS as a security officer gives him particular insight in his new position as Security Manager for Remote Site Operations with NMS.

Operations Manager

Dave Dringle joined NMS in 1997 as a patrol officer with NMS after serving 20 years in the Navy. In 1999 Dave was promoted to account supervisor. He was promoted again in 2001 to Operations Supervisor for Anchorage operations where he oversaw much of the Anchorage officers’ training.

In 2005, Dave was promoted to his current position of Operations Manager for the Anchorage area. As Operations Manager he oversees the fourteen Anchorage accounts. Dave is responsible for ensuring that all State and client requirements are met at each operation site. He is also responsible for ensuring that all officers receive weapons and use of force training. Dave is a licensed qualified agent with the State to issue guard licenses.

Dave is currently a member of the Alaska Peace Officers Association and of ASIS International.

Operations Supervisor

Dan Cloud joined NMS in 2005 as the Anchorage Operations Supervisor after five years in the security industry and 22 years in the Air Force. As Operations Supervisor Dan’s responsibilities include daily contact with officers and clients to ensure smooth operations, the recruitment and training of new officers and issuance of uniforms. More recently Dan’s duties have expanded to include the start up of new client locations, including the design and issuance of uniforms, the recruitment and training of new officers and overseeing the transition of the site from previous security providers.

Dan is currently a member of ASIS International and is pursuing his B.A. in Business Administration at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.

Business Development Manager, Western Region

Duane joined NMS in 2001 as the Security Manager for NMS’ Security Division. In 2004 he became Director of NMS’ camp services and security operations. Duane is currently the Business Development Director for NMS Division and also oversees all security operations in the lower 48.

Duane Udland joined NMS after 29 years in the law enforcement field. Duane began his career with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office in 1972, where he worked in jail security, patrol, and finally as a detective. In 1978, he and his family moved to Alaska, where he joined the Soldotna Police Department, holding the rank of Sergeant until he was appointed Chief of Police in 1982. IN 1988, Duane was recruited for the positions of Deputy Chief of Police with the Anchorage Police Department, and he was ultimately appointed to the position of Chief of Police in 1997.

Duane attended the Spokane Police Academy in 1973, graduated from the FBI National Academy and the National Executive Institute, and has extensive training in all aspects of the policing filed. During his tenure in law enforcement, Duane developed a strong background in all basic police skills. The last 18 years of his career were spent in police management and leadership positions. Intensely customer-focused, Duane brings a strong commitment to client satisfaction. Duane is a lifetime member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Alaska Association of Chiefs of Police.

Area Manager, Southern Region

Mark came to NMS after retiring from the Anchorage Police Department with 29 years of service. His career was extensive and distinguished. Mark began his career with APD in 1971 as a reserve officer. In 1972, he was hired as a warrants officer and quickly moved on to the patrol division, where he spent the next 20 years in a variety of assignments. Mark was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1982 and assigned to the newly created Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT). After being promoted to Lieutenant, Mark was appointed as Commander of CIRT, K-9, the Bomb Squad, the Hostage Negotiation Team, the Traffic Division, and the Explorer Scout program. Mark finished his time with APD as the detective commander of the Major Crimes Unit.

Beyond his basic academy training, Mark received specialized training from the United States Army, the FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Alaska State Troopers, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and several other police agencies. He holds an Advanced Police Certificate, and has over 1,000 hours of in-service police training. Mark is a graduate of the University of Louisville, Southern Police Institute and is a certified instructor in Special Weapons and Tactics and Dignitary Protection.
